What is Invisalign?

Invisalign is an orthodontic alternative to braces. While traditional braces apply gradual force to your teeth with metal braces and wires, Invisalign uses removable BPA-free plastic aligners. Dr. Tomase and his team use state-of-the-art technology to create digital impressions of your teeth when creating your custom-made aligners.

Invisalign allows you to straighten your teeth discreetly. You can take your aligners out to eat, drink, brush and floss. Invisalign allows for fewer disruptions in your life than metal braces, making them an excellent orthodontic treatment for teens and adults.

What are the benefits of Invisalign?

Popular benefits of Invisalign include:

Discreet

Nobody can tell when you’re wearing Invisalign, due to the thin, transparent materials that mold to your unique tooth shape.

Removable

Unlike braces, clear aligners don’t bond to your teeth. You can remove Invisalign to care for your oral health and eat your favorite foods.

Comfortable

One of the disadvantages of braces is their ability to cause friction. Brackets that rub against the insides of your cheeks can cause sores, pain, and swelling. Invisalign contains smooth materials, so your aligners don’t irritate your mouth.

Fast

While braces take 18 months to three years to straighten your teeth, Invisalign can produce similar results in as little as six to 18 months.

Invisalign also requires fewer office visits than braces. Clear braces don’t need tightening like braces, so you don’t have to visit for regular check-ins. The entire process is also digital, which allows Dr. Tomase to make adjustments to your treatment plan from the Invisalign software.

What can I expect from Invisalign treatment?

When you arrive for Invisalign treatment, Dr. Tomase uses the iTero® intraoral scanner to take digital impressions of your mouth. Invisalign then creates your custom-made aligners. Every 2-3 weeks, you wear a new set of clear aligners. Wearing Invisalign for at least 22 hours a day is essential to stay on target with your treatment plan.

To prevent tooth decay, clean your aligners daily. You should always rinse your aligners before placing them in your mouth. It’s also important to brush and floss after meals to stop food particles from becoming trapped between your teeth and aligners.
